JOHANN MICHAEL SCHOBER

is a Vienna-based interdisciplinary artist working across sound, image, text, and concept.
As an autodidact, he moves between experimental and mainstream formats, using different media and technologies as tools rather than destinations.
Over more than three decades, his practice has moved through electronic and avant-garde music into contemporary club culture, later extending into jazz, pop, and commissioned work. Rather than following genres, it continues to evolve across different contexts and forms.
Earlier releases appeared under several identities, among them DON SUMMER, We Mean Disco!!, Fake Fellini, and Def.Con. Current club culture work continues as Jean Michel Schober, while MONOCOQUE and ORIGAMI SKIN explore the spaces between independent, alternative, and popular culture.
His work begins at the point where perception shifts.
