JOHANN MICHAEL SCHOBER

ABOUT

Johann Michael Schober Is a Vienna-based producer, composer, and interdisciplinary artist.
His work begins at the point where perception shifts.
Over more than three decades, his practice has moved through electronic and avant-garde music into house and techno shaped by Detroit and Chicago, later extending into jazz, pop, and commissioned work.
Rather than following styles, the work is driven by a continuous structural logic.
Structure emerges from instability.
Earlier work appeared under multiple identities, including Don Summer, We Mean Disco!!, Fake Fellini, Def.Con, among others.
Current releases continue under Jean Michel Schober.
MONOCOQUE marks an ongoing collaboration with Heidi Moussa-Benammar.
ORIGAMI SKIN forms the current center of his work.
Developed over more than twenty five years, it unfolds across temporal layers rather than in sequence.
Sound, image, and text operate as parallel systems.
Recent projects include an audiovisual installation developed during a residency at the Cité internationale des arts, Paris.
FAT PEOPLE DANCING, in collaboration with Veronika Merklein, operates between sound, image, and social inquiry.
